Roosecote

Morrison Utility Connections in conjunction with Younicos, a leading expert in battery storage have been engaged to build one of the world’s largest battery storage facilities at the former Roosecote Power station site near Barrow.  The facility is being constructed for Centrica and will be a 50MW site and will be used to feed electricity into the network when instructed to by National Grid. The work consists of constructing a steel frame building to house the batteries, their associated electrical infrastructure and plant.  Electrical equipment will be installed within the building to connect the batteries to the main step up transformer with a cable being installed to connect the facility to the Electricity North West substation on the site.  It is not anticipated that any work will be carried out outside of the site boundary.  Construction work will start in April 2017 and is planned to be complete by August 2018.
