National Grid's EFR auction results now in.

Following the issue of National Grid's invitation to tender for supply of Enhanced Frequency Response (EFR) services back in July, the results are now in. Seven companies have been successful and will be providing energy storage facilities at eight sites across the UK resulting in an estimated 201MW of EFR capacity by March 2018.

First Reserve Fund XIII to acquire Morrison Utility Services from Bregal Capital and Motion Equity Partners.

Morrison Utility Services (“MUS” or “the company”), the leading provider of utility infrastructure services in the United Kingdom, today announced an agreement to be acquired by First Reserve, a leading global private equity and infrastructure investment firm exclusively focused on energy, including utilities.  Bregal Capital and Motion Equity Partners acquired MUS in March 2008 from Anglian Water Group, investing alongside company management.

British Solar Renewables project demobilised.

We have completed the delivery stage of our connection works on site at Deeside for the new 49.9MW solar park and we have now fully demobilised the site of all manpower, security fencing, welfare accommodation, site offices, temporary access roads, signage, specialist equipment etc.

Durham County Council awards the connection contract for new business park.

Morrison Utility Connections (MUC) has been contracted by Durham County Council to provide a connection for the proposed Forrest Business Park at Newton Aycliffe.  

The connection involves a new 33/11kV primary substation and all the associated 33kV cable routes which includes the technical difficulties of a directionally drill under the A1(M).

MUC to connect new Biomass plant in Nottinghamshire.

Exuitix ESI, via its development contractor Pinnacle Power has awarded Morrison Utility Connections (MUC) the contract to connect their new waste wood fired Biomass generation plant at Widmerpool near Nottingham to the electricity network.  

This project involves the installation of a new 33kV substation and a 3.2km 33kV cable run, including all the associated civils work including a directional drill under the A46 dual carriageway, all to Western Power Distribution’s (WPD’s) adoptable standards.
